Sometimes people may wonder what it is about riding a motorcycle that makes it so compelling. Some people wonder why anyone would want to take the risk of getting on a fast two-wheeled vehicle and apparently putting their well-being in jeopardy. The fact is, riding a motorcycle may simply be the most thrilling experience you can ever undergo, aside from perhaps piloting a fighter aircraft (which normal people will never get to experience). For more than three decades, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation has been providing high quality training and riding education for budding motorcyclists of all ages. It’s the perfect way to go from zero to knowledgeable motorcyclist in a matter of just a few days. With branches in every state, it’s a no-brainer to attend an MSF rider course if you intend to pick up the sport of motorcycling.

The basic rider course doesn’t take much time at all, and will give you a wealth of motorcycling knowledge in an easy-to-digest manner. Most attending students have absolutely no experience with motorcycles, but the class is also excellent for returning riders who may be getting back into the sport. Also, the diversity in age among students is very apparent, and a startlingly increasing number of women are learning to ride motorcycles these days. Small and medium sized farms have made use of atvs performing tasks previously performed by horses and by good old human power. The application of pesticides has become more efficient due to the availability of atv-mounted pesticide applicators. The feeding of livestock has become easier using atvs for hauling and distributing feed. Mowing smaller fields can be more efficient with atvs over full size tractors especially in areas with limited access. The relocation of dirt and gravel, a simple task done for a variety of reasons, has been made easier as atvs can reach areas not accessible by pickup truck or tractor. Seeding is another example of life made easier on the farm by means of atv, an attached atv spreader can ease the workload associated with seeding crops as well. Tilling can also be accomplished via atv. A cumbersome tiller attached to a full size tractor may not always work well in areas with limited access or difficult maneuverability.

Anyone who has ever ridden an atv for recreational purposes knows how gratifying and enjoyable riding can be and it is always interesting to see exciting new roles played by the all terrain vehicle as they continue to emerge year after year. Through the use of new and innovative accessories, larger engines, better suspension and control, we can only imagine where we’ll find an atv next.

Kos, one of the larger of 18 islands in the southern Aegean Sea, gives you a taste of rural life in Greece. During my holidays here, I also visited the Castle of the Knights of Saint John’s in their itinerary. Built on the site where a Byzantine fortress earlier stood, this castle offers a grand welcome from its location at the entrance of the port.
